Jennie Mae Myers, 99, of Kokomo, IN, passed away on Wednesday, June 27th, 2018 at Howard Community Hospital. She was born on May 30th, 1919 to David B. Dilts and Mabel M. (Scott) Dilts. She married Oliver W. Myers on September 3rd, 1940. Oliver passed on October 24th, 1983.
Jennie worked as a secretary for an attorney in Peru before she married Oliver, then later in her married years, she worked at the Boston Department Store and K&S Department Store in Kokomo. Oliver and Jennie owned and operated the Hide-A-Way Tavern in Kokomo during the 1970's until it was destroyed by a fire in 1979.
As a child, she attended Main Street United Methodist Church in Peru and while living with her daughter, Roberta in Owensville, she attended Blue Grass Methodist Church for 5 years.
She belonged to several sororities; Russiaville Chapter of Eastern Star of Russiaville, Indiana and the Ladies Eagles Auxiliary in Kokomo.
She is survived by 6 children, Sharon (O'Dell) McIntire, Oliver (Pauline) Myers Jr., Charles (Irene) Myers, Martha (Rick) McGraw of Lake City, MI., Roberta (Dee) Deutsch of Oakland City, IN., and Pamela (Robert) Lytle. She has 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchild, along with several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in passing by her parents, her husband, Oliver, 2 daughters Carolyn Bitner and Joan Bassett, one 1 great-grandchild Chad McIntire, and her brother, Robert Dilts.
Friends and family may call from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday, July 2nd at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, with a funeral following at 12:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Doug Heiman. Jennie will be laid to rest at Crown Point Cemetery.
