She married the love of her life, Earl S. McAninch on November 22, 1958, in Kokomo, Indiana, and he survives.
Janet was primarily a homemaker, but also had several part-time jobs. She attended Kokomo Schools, but she went to work at an early age to help support her family. She enjoyed ceramic making, sewing, and most of all, puzzles, and spoiling her great grandchildren. She loved being a stay-at-home mom and wife and loved to cook for her family, especially her Italian meat rolls (inspired by her uncle Frank Bruno's recipe). Janet adored her children, grandchildren, and especially, her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Earl; four children, Vincent (Jenny) McAninch, Dale (Heather) McAninch, Darren McAninch, and Michelle (Brian) Legan; grandchildren, Angie Pentland, Matthew Legan, Lance Ashcraft, Diana (Matt) Davis, Megan (Logan) McCauley, Morgan (Ora) Etchison, Breanna (Quinton) Young, and Kasey Trine, and her children, Julian and Jordan; other great-grandchildren, Keegan and Kyle Paul, Miles and Maxwell Etchison, Layla Ashcraft, and Evelyn and Sophie Davis, Elaina and Griffin McCauley, and one on the way, Quinlee Young, expected in September 2023; siblings, Barbara Wethington, Mark Layton, and Maryann Grisamer; sisters-in-law, Shirlene Merida; brothers-in-law, Butch Freeman and Jacques LaRose; and several nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Eleanor (Bruno) Layton; brothers, Kenny Layton and Jon Layton, infant brother, Johnny Harold; great-grandson, Vinny Young; brother-in-law, Dan Merida; and sisters-in-law, Donna and Julia.
