Janet Lee Cox Watson

Janet Lee Cox Watson, 82 of Kokomo, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 19, 2023. She was born to the late Donald and Pearl Sweeney on October 19, 1940. Janet married Roscoe (Bud) Cox in Kokomo, Indiana on October 25, 1958. Janet and Bud enjoyed 25 years of happy marriage and raised four children before Bud was called to be with the Lord in 1983. Later she married Rex Watson. Janet and Rex enjoyed 32 years of marriage before Rex’s death in 2018 Janet graduated from Kokomo High School in 1958. She was employed at Kingstons Products Corp. in Kokomo. Later she served the city of Kokomo in the Tax Assessor-Collector’s office and retired as the Kokomo City Clerk. Additionally, Janet was a proud member of the; Howard County Republican Women’s Club, American Business Women (serving as secretary and president), Indiana League of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers, and Kiwanis. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Kokomo, where she taught bible study for many years. She loved serving the Lord and helping others. She enjoyed cooking and sharing with others wherever there was a need. Most importantly Janet loved her Lord, her family, and many friends. She was a proud mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Janet is survived by four children: Cynthia (Don) Nilson of Fort Worth, Texas; Terry (Patsy) Cox of Macy, Indiana; Karen (Rick) Powell of Port Charlotte, Florida; and Scott Cox of Kokomo, Indiana. Grandchildren; Jennifer Cox-Hammac, Jason (Lindsey) Cox, Stephanie Nilson, Carlie Cox, Ashley Johnston, Mitchell Robinson, Melissa Nilson, and Heather (Joshua) Robison. Thirteen great grandchildren whom she adored. Loving sister Rita Reed. Preceding her in death; daughter-in-law Joyce Cox, grandson Bryce Robinson, husband Roscoe (Bud) Cox, husband Rex Watson, sister Sharon Haworth, brothers Donald Sweeney, and Thomas Sweeney. Visitation will take place at Ellers Mortuary, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46902 on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 12:00 pm until the start of funeral services at 2:00 pm. Funeral services will be officiated by Rev. Steve Archer. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, 2097 W. Alto Road, Kokomo, Indiana.
