James William Poling, Sr., 80, Kokomo, went home to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, January 16, 2015, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne. He was born June 4, 1934, in Grafton, West Virginia, to Walter and Mary (Cox) Poling. On June 9, 2012, he married Linda (Christie) Poling in Kokomo, and she survives.
He worked at Chrysler for 30 years before retiring in 1984. He was a member of UAW Local 685 and Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Linda Poling, he is survived by one son, James W. Poling, Jr., Florida; two daughters, Penny Jo (Danny) Johnson, Kokomo, and Sherry (Glen) Hudson, Kokomo; two step-sons, Seth Baker, Kokomo, and Johnny (Lila) Baker, Illinois; two step-daughters, Belinda (Tony) Arredondo, Kempton, and Anna (John Kash) Baker, Logansport; eighteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Jim (Kathy) Christie, and Randy (Beverly) Christie; and three sisters, Clarabelle Powers, Elsie Loy, Judy (Dale) Easterling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife of 56 years, Patricia Poling; brothers, Ralph Poling, and Luther Poling; and sisters, Rhoda Goodwin, Bessie Loy, and Joanne Wolfe.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Sexton officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
