James Richard McCombs

James Richard McCombs, 92, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on December 7, 2022. He was born on May 11,1930 in Kokomo, Indiana to Glen William and Carmen (Brown) McCombs . He married Barbara Jean (Ellis) McCombs who survives. Jim helped create the United Brethren Church of Kokomo. He worked at Opalescent Glass Factory for 4 years and Continental Steel for 32 years. He was always busy in the yard and loved being outside. He earned his pilot's license and enjoyed flying, liked to travel, but most of all enjoyed playing with his grandkids.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 74 years, Barbara; children, Deana Barker, Theresa "Terri" (Steve) Holt; grandchildren, Janelle (Brett) Burkhart, Dereck (Cynthia) Barker, Shelley Holt, Julie (Jason) Holt; great-grandchildren, Bryce Burkhart, Ryley Layman, Reece Burkhart, Hannah Barker, Ethan Barker, Chase Barker, Connor Dobson, Logan Dobson; and sister, Wanda Jean Koegler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Glen, Robert, Herman, Earl; sisters, Leticha, Marguerite, Eva and Luthera.

Visitation will take place at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 W. Alto Road, on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 12:00 pm until the start of services at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery Kokomo, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kokomo Urban Outreach.
