Jackie "Jack" Ray Sawyer, age 83, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at his home. He was born on April 25, 1941 in Park City, Indiana to the late Roscoe R. and Christina V. (Morlan) Sawyer. Jack married Julia "Judy" Leah Sawyer on September 27, 1972, at their home in Kokomo, and she passed away on July 24, 2024.
Jack graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in education. He went on to work for Adler's Seed Co. as a traveling electrician, who worked on grain bins. Jack went on to invest in real estate and started his own business, Sawyer Residential Rentals. He continued to work in his business until his passing. During his down time, he enjoyed traveling, golfing, and watching college basketball. Jack was a board member and trustee at Southside Apostolic Church for 25 years, where he was a long time member.
He is survived by three daughters, Kimberly (Don) Sawyer, Stephanie (Alexander) Meneely, and Linda Christina Sawyer; seven grandchildren, Aaron Sloan, Matthew Sloan, Joel Andrews, Justin Sawyer, Cody Christenson, and Joenah Meneely; nine great grandchildren; siblings, Merrill (Roberta) Sawyer and Linda Rupe; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death is his loving wife, Judy; daughter, Tamara Sloan; three sons, Timothy Sawyer, Barton Sawyer, Bradley Sawyer; sister, Barbara Crooks; and grandson, Travis Sloan.
There will be a time of visitation for Jack on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM at Southside Apostolic Church, 1716 East Firmin Street, Kokomo, Indiana. Pastor Rev. Keith Mosier will be officiating. Burial will follow to Crown Point Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jack to Southside Apostolic Church, envelopes will be provided at the church.
