Butch was drafted in the US Army, and he faithfully served his country from 1961 to 1963 during the Cuban Missile Crisis of October 1962. On May 16, 1962, he married Paula Graves and together they raised two sons, Steven D. Carver and James E. Carver. Butch loved to spend time outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was an Assistant Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts, Troop 504. He also was an avid pool player. He enjoyed watching the Colts and recently became a fan of the WNBA, Fever. He was a previous member of Fairview Baptist church for several years where he was baptized and then later attended Faith Baptist church. He retired from Kokomo Center Schools.
Butch is survived by his loving wife Paula Carver, sons; Steven D. Carver (Meghan) and James E. Carver (Angie), grandchildren; Holly, Laura, Benjamin, Noelle, Samuel, Andrew, Jacob, and Zoe, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Butch is preceded in death by his 7 siblings: Thomas Carver, Charlie Carver, Leonard Carver, Harry Carver, Gloria Coate, his twin sister Ione "Bonnie" Taylor, and Viola Evans.
A visitation for Butch will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Ellers Mortuary & Crematory Center, 3400 S. Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46902, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Butch will be laid to rest in Albright Cemetery, 3910 Albright Rd, Kokomo, Indiana 46902. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Butch's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
