Howard Phillip "Phil" McKown, 80, of Kokomo, Indiana went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 13, 2022. He was born on September 18, 1941 in Hammond, IN the son of Troy and Lucille Brumett (Fetterhoff). On June 25, 1970 he married Cathy McKown (Bowers) who survives. They proudly celebrated 51 years of marriage.
Phil graduated from Kokomo High School and attended Ball State University. He retired from Delco Electronics after 38 years. Phil was an avid fisherman, enjoyed golf and coached numerous sports teams touching the lives of many young athletes. He never missed watching an I.U. Basketball or Indianapolis Colts game on television. His love for Jesus was evident to all who met him. He was kind hearted, generous and loved by all. Phil was a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather who loved nothing more than being with his family.
Surviving relatives include his devoted wife Cathy McKown of Kokomo, IN; three children, Velvet Koning (Rod) of Holland, MI; April Martz (Mike) of Hudsonville, MI; Daniel McKown (Andrea) of Kokomo, IN; nine grandchildren, Rylee Doyle (Oladimeji Adeniran); Courtney Roberts (Taylor Bodem); Austin Doyle; Branden Martz; Madisen Doyle; Allisen Martz; Gavin Doyle; Danny McKown and Kaela Martz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 PM Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 West Alto Road Kokomo, Indiana 46902. Visitation will be 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the funeral home. Share a memory with the family at www.sunsetmemorygarden.com.
