He graduated in 1964 from Southside High School in Muncie, Indiana before heading to DeVry University for trade school.
In 1965, he joined the Air Force and served for 27 years. Later, he worked at Delco as an electrician until he retired in 2001. He was well known as the best dressed electrician for his knit pants and dress shirts.
Harold first met Eva Louise Reed and her sister Carol at his job in the grocery store. He told them they didn’t have enough money to purchase their items, and said Eva should wait there while Carol ran home. Little did Eva know at the time, this was just a ploy to send her sister off so he could have the chance to sweep her off her feet. Harold married Eva Louise on March 6, 1966.
They later had 3 children, Eva Le Ann (m. Steve Lange), Patricia Jay (m. Ronald Hughes) and Harold J Wilson II. Four grandchildren Larissa (m. Alex Pier) Chelsey (m. Darin Syverson), Stephanie (m. Thomas Grawcock), and Perry. Five great grandchildren Elric, Lorelei, Winry, Brook, and Mirajane, and a sixth coming May 2025.
Harold spent his time following the racing circuits, building model airplanes, and shooting guns recreationally. His love of motorcycles led him to be known exclusively as “Papaw Harley” to all his grandchildren.
He passed away on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024 loved and surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Paul Wilbur Jr, John Sargent, and Forest Adams, his sister Paula Jo, and his great grandson Elric Ray Pier.
