Floyd C. Dutchess, 83, Kokomo, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012, at Northwoods Village. He was born August 18, 1929, in Howard County, to William F. and Madge R. (Oldfather) Dutchess. He married Emagene Snyder, and she preceded him in death on July 1, 2012.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in France. He graduated from Galveston High School in 1947 and was a member of the Cass County Basketball Championship Team in 1947. He worked at Haynes and later at Chrysler where he retired after 27 years. He was a member of Bon Air Church of the Nazarene, the NRA, Walton Legion #418, the Howard County Genealogy Society, and served as treasurer for many years for the Galveston Alumni Association.
He is survived by one brother, Creg (Bea) Dutchess, Galveston, and two sisters, Portia M Devore, Galveston, and Marcia E. (Jerry) Harms, Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Carla Dutchess; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Emagene Dutchess, he was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Jan Leslie Dutchess; and his twin brother, Lloyd A. Dutchess.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Riggs officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Bon Air Church of the Nazarene.
