Gene graduated from Sharpsville-Prairie High School in 1966. He was a Teamster truck driver and retired from USF Holland. After retirement, he worked with his son, Trent, doing construction. In 1969, he married Diane Gray.
He was an avid fan of IU basketball, the Indianapolis Colts, the Chicago Cubs, and NASCAR racing.
In addition to Diane, Gene is survived by his children, Nicki Watson, Genea (Chris) Howard, Andrea (Michael) Clark, and Trent Watson; siblings, Sonie Widland, and Mike (Martha) Watson; foster sister, Mel Lewis; grandchildren, Anthony, Jori, Jessa, Mason, Quintin, Draven, Gage, India, Aubree, and Griffin, and great grandchildren, Paityn, Kennedy, and Kohen.
Services are at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home on Friday, June 1st from 12-2, with a funeral service immediately following.
Memorial contributions in Gene’s name may be made to Bona Vista Rehabilitation Center.
