Eugene "Gene" F. Musgrave

Eugene “Gene” F. Musgrave, 84, Kokomo, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012, at Golden Living Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 11, 1927, in Beaverville, Illinois, to the late Chester and Flosie (Barns) Musgrave. He married Marolyn England on February 15, 1950.

Eugene went to Kokomo Schools and joined the Air Force where he served two years. He then enlisted in the US Army and served until he retired in 1967. He traveled all over the world while in the service with his wife and family. He enjoyed sharing that life with his family. He always said that was one of the greatest gifts; to show his wife and children the world. Eugene loved spending his time fishing, gardening, and working in his garage doing his wood working and making things for his family. After his retirement from Wilson Corporation in 1974, he loved going to the casinos, spending time with others talking and just enjoying life. During his last days, he talked about one of his greatest joys; taking his grandsons, Matt and Jeff, fishing at the lake and watching them grow up. It was his hope that they carry on his love of fishing and remember no fish is too small in the eyes of a little boy.

In addition to his wife, Marolyn Musgrave, he is survived by his children, Janet (Elliott) Musgrave, Sheridan, Steve Musgrave, Greenfield, Mark Musgrave, Kokomo; special family member, Robert Benkowski; step-son, Michael McLaughlin; sister, Bonnie Woodbury, Lehigh Acres, Florida; five grandsons, Adam Elliott, Lafayette, Ryan Elliott, Indianapolis, Matthew Musgrave, Logansport, Jeffrey Musgrave, Logansport, Joshua Musgrave, Atlanta, Georgia; two great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David Eugene Musgrave and Kenneth Musgrave; brother, Raymond Musgrave; and sisters, Alberta Maddox, and Betty Denton.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 W. Alto Rd., Kokomo, IN 46902, with Pastor Paul Sutherland officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery with military honors provided by the US Army and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
