Douglas Richard McClure, 69, of Kokomo, passed away at 12:38 AM Wednesday May 3, 2017 at his residence. Born July 30, 1947 in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Howard McClure and Louise (Howell) McClure.
He was a graduate of Western High School and had attended Indiana University-Kokomo. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army. He was employed with Chrysler until 1980. He then worked as a nuclear power plant inspector for Virginia Power and Light. He then worked in radio advertising in Virginia before retiring. He loved music, enjoyed camping and fishing and spending time with his children, playing with his grandkids, and traveling. He also attended First EPC Church and was a member of the Rotary Club in Virginia.
Survivors include one son Douglas A. McClure of Kokomo; one daughter Michelle R. McClure of Kokomo; one sister Candace McClure of Fort Myers, Florida; seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a friend Betty McClure-Brockwell.
A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 4pm at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo with Pastor Charles Riley officiating with full military rites conducted by the United States Army and VFW Military Rites Team. The family will receive friends from 2pm until the time of service on Thursday, also at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be directed to the VFW Post #1152 with envelopes available at the mortuary.
