Dorothy Morris "Whitfield" Murphy

The beloved Mrs. Dorothy Morris "Whitfield" Murphy, 97, departed this life on Friday, November 10th, 2023 at 3:10 PM with family by her side to be with our Lord Savior Jesus Christ. She accepted Christ at an early age.

Born to John and Susie Whitfield on March 11th, 1926 in Clarksville, TN. She married Richard C. Murphy on October 16th, 1946 and relocated to Kokomo, IN. With this union, they were blessed with five children, one daughter Juanita Murphy Scales of Kokomo, IN and four sons, William E. Murphy of North Carolina, Lawrence Murphy of Fishers, IN, Ronnie Murphy of Avon, IN and Freeman Murphy. She was a member of Second Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading bible scriptures as well as hearing the word of God. As her hobby, she enjoyed shopping for beautiful clothes and shoes. She enjoyed taking countryside rides with her family and cooking with her daughter.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful loving memories her twelve grandchildren, Durome, Kermit, Karolyn, Regina, her namesake Dorothy "Nekole" Scales, Arlanda, Lawrence, Nicole Murphy, Laura Ann, Lameka, Takia, Shyanne also 24 great grandchildren and 40 great great grandchildren and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard C. Murphy, her two brothers Henry Whitfield, John Whitfield, her son Freeman Murphy; daughter-in-law Marry Ann Murphy; and a great grand daughter Destiny Quarles.

Visitation for Dorothy will be held Friday, November 17, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 West Alto Road, Kokomo, Indiana 46902. Funeral services will be Friday, November 17, 2023 at 2:00 PM, at the funeral home. A burial will be at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
