Obituary of Donald Loll
Donald K. Loll, 83, Kokomo, passed away in the loving arms of his wife, Janice Loll, on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis from complications of open heart surgery. He was born August 18, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Otto G. and Ella M. (Paul) Loll. Mr. Loll retired in April 1996 from the General Motors Plant in Marion in the tool room after eleven years of service. He had been a die maker for forty-two years. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952; two years on the USS Princeton CV-37, an aircraft carrier off the coast of Korea during the Korean War. He has a Veterans Walk of Honor brick at the Howard County Veterans Memorial in Darrough Chapel Park. He loved and served his country with honor. Donald was a member of First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 6, USS Princeton Association, UAW Local 977 Retirees, and the Glenndale Flying Club. He enjoyed flying light planes while he was able and had his private pilot’s license since 1963. Mr. Loll was a supporter of the Kokomo Park Band and enjoyed their concerts. He was a good man and will be greatly missed. Surviving in addition to his wife Janice are two daughters, Deann (Robert) Fitzke of Michigan, and Deborah (Pat) Torok of Colorado; a son, David Loll of Michigan; and three step-children who loved and respected him as a father, James Hampton, David Jones and Karen Smith. He had several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry VanAuken officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Evangelical Presbyterian Church (F.E.P.C.), 2000 W. Jefferson St., Kokomo, IN 46901.
