IN THE CARE OF
Ellers Mortuary
Devontae Douglas David, age 28, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
Devontae was born in Kokomo, Indiana to Nathaniel Hocker and Elizabeth David on December 10, 1995. He worked for Park 100 Foods. He delighted in anime' series, like Demon Slayer, Slime, and especially, One Piece (he would always say there weren't enough episodes!). He loved playing video games with his brother Javorioeus; his top favorites being Saint's Row, Def Jam, Fight for New York, and Midnight Club. He took pleasure in visiting Francis Park and being around nature. He was amused by cars, car audio systems, sports and shoes. He really enjoyed guns and target shooting.
Devontae was a beloved son, brother and friend to many. He brought light and laughter to those around him and his love extended deeply to his family, friends, and passions. He had a special bond with two younger siblings, Zara and Marshawn. He was their protector and confidant and will be missed more than words can express.
Left to cherish Devontae's memory are his parents; mother, Elizabeth David; father and step-mother, Nathaniel and Amber Hocker; maternal siblings, Javorioeus, Quinton, Marshawn and Zara; paternal siblings, Xavier Hocker, Kailum Davis, Nathaniel Davis, Eriona (Brandon) Henry, Gabriel Hocker, and Zathean Hocker; and niece, Raini.
Devontae was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Nathaniel Hocker Sr. and Mattie Belle Hocker; maternal grandmother, Brenda David; and maternal sister, Crea.
A time of visitation for Devontae will be held Monday, November 18, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ellers Mortuary, 725 S. Main Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46901, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM.
Memory of Me ---
I'd like the memory of me
to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an afterglow
of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
of happy times and laughing times,
and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve,
to dry before the sun,
with all of the happy memories
that I leave when my life is done.
