David L. Burns
January 19, 1949 – June 29, 2022

David L Burns, age 73, of Russiaville, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. David was born January 19, 1949 to the late John and Audrey (Bowers) Burns in Kokomo, IN.
He graduated from Kokomo High School in 1967 and later married Margo Lucas in 1974. He worked at Continental Steel for seventeen years before working construction for twelve years, and then finished at Chrysler. He helped start Hillside Missionary Baptist Church, helped with the construction of Bethel Tabernacle, and taught adult and youth Sunday School.
David loved to go deer hunting, fishing, splitting wood by hand, landscaping, and working on his classic car. He also enjoyed listening to the wrens and hanging out on his back porch.
Anytime someone called for help, David was there. Above all, he loved his family and friends.
David is survived by his wife, Margo; son, Matthew Burns; daughter, Brooke and Shawn McGill; Michelle and Paul Harris; grandchildren: Gavin and Kaylee Burns; Nathan and Mathew McGill; Olivia, Colleen, Josie, Addie, and Bixler Harris; his sister, Barbara Cook and husband Herman; brother-in-law, Greg Lucas and wife Yong; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Weezer.
He is preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Charles and Estella Lucas; and his sister, Vickie Walls.
A public visitation for David will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Bethel Tabernacle Church of God, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Pastors Steve Branstutter and David Cornelius will officiate.
David will be laid to rest in South Union Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the Kokomo Kids Fishing Clinic or the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
