William Ennis "Bill" Woodward, 89, of Knoxville, TN passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Shannondale Healthcare Center in Knoxville. He was born December 26, 1928 in Nashville, TN, the son of Boyd and Leora Woodward. Bill grew up in Maury County, TN, first in Mt. Pleasant and later Columbia. At the age of 16 he opened his own shoe shop in Mount Pleasant, TN. In the late 1950's, he was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville with a degree in electrical engineering and was an electrical engineer at Alcoa Aluminum from 1963 to 1992. During these years, he held many positions including international positions. Bill was a long-time member of Laurel Church of Christ. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Barbara (John) Remine of Knoxville, TN; son Michael (Pam) Woodward of St. Louis, MO; sister Joan (Vernon) Brooks of Mount Pleasant, TN; grandson Derek; great-granddaughters, and longtime friend Clara Cole. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Betty (Gibson) Woodward and brothers, James O. and Harold L. Woodward. A Memorial Service will be held in Mt. Pleasant, TN.
