He was a long time member, deacon, and treasurer of Bon View Baptist Church. He retired from RBM Co. after many years of employment. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was awarded a Purple Heart, and a Presidential Citation, and he was proud of his service.
He's preceded in death by his parents John and Callie McGinley, brothers George, Gene, Carl, Clarence, and sisters Mary Ammons, and Evelyn Yow, and first wife Dorothy McGinley, son Jim McGinley, grandson Mark McGinley.
He is survived by wife Joyce McGinley, daughters Sue Ellis, and Callie McGinley, Sons Charlie McGinley, and William McGinley Jr. Sister Frances (Claude) Yow, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and cousins.
The family welcomes friends to a Visitation on Wednesday, January 4, 2022, from 3pm-5pm with a Funeral Service to follow at 5pm. Family and friends will meet at East Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery on Thursday, January 5, 2022, at 1:45pm for a 2pm Graveside Service.
