He was a long-time resident of Chattanooga, TN until 2019. He attended Red Bank High School and the University of Tennessee. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Alaska Defense Command, a retiree from TVA after a 33-year career, a 65-year member of Rhea Springs Masonic Lodge, and a member of the York Rite. He was also a member of Spring City United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest A. and Virginia B. King and his son, William D. King Jr.
He is survived by his sister, Linda Jo Gilliland (husband Bub); son, Ralph Edward “Eddie” King (wife Sheila); grandsons, Joshua and Jacob King; granddaughters, Ashley Main and Lorrie Crawford; three great grandchildren; two nephews and a niece.
Family and friends will meet at the Chattanooga Memorial Park Hilltop Pavilion, 501 Memorial Drive, Saturday, March 13, 2021 for an 11:00am Graveside Service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to one of Dan's favorite charities, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Knights Templar Eye Foundation, 1033 Long Prairie Rd.
