My husband and I knew Billy for years. He was such a special spirit. A bright light in this world of darkness. We were not aware of Billy’s passing until today, so I wanted to make sure his family knew that our hearts are full of sadness at his passing, but full of love for the man he was. I was truly blessed that he allowed me to be his friend. To have his infectious joy of the world and in life. He never knew a stranger he didn’t like, or want to help. This is what kind of man he was/IS! We will miss you so much Officer! You are, and always be, in our hearts. Condolences to his family and loved ones. Be at peace KNOWING he is home now. 🕯

I’m so saddened to hear of Billy’s passing. I will miss him and his stories and jokes so much.  I will never forget him telling one of his jokes as I cut his hair. It wasn’t dirty or vulgar just a little colorful. The next person in line just happened to be a preacher and Billy about fell thru the floor when he realized it . We all got a huge kick out of it-even the preacher! Billy was one of my favorite and I was always excited to see him! May God bless and wrap you all in his comfort! 

To my friend and fellow police officer 👮 Knoxville Police Department. Will be missed but never forgotten. Gone home to be with the Lord !I will always remember his smile and soft spoken language and how he loved life family & friends !

So sad and sorry to hear of Billy's passing..I met Billy back in late 70's and he was definitely one of a kinda! Billy was always joking and laughing and he could put a smile on your face when you needed it the most..on the other hand  he didn't mess around when it came to his  Blue Family (KPD) Billy was a Good Man Officer and Friend..Last talk to Billy a 1-1/2 ago told me he was back at his Mom and Dads old house and hadn't been feeling good ..You will  be missed  and are already missed..Thank You Sir for your Service! Candice, I am so sorry for your loss.  Watching the tribute movie and seeing glimpses of his life through pictures, you can see the love and joy your dad had for family and friends.   Although I only met him a hand full of times, I know his legacy will live on, because I've witnessed that same love and joy from  you, Jim, and Andrew.  I wish I had some magic words that would help ease the pain, but unfortunately I know nothing can.  Just remember that this separation is only temporary and you'll see him again. Although it has been many years ago and our paths did not cross for long Billy had a lasting impression  on my life! His fierce devotion to family and profession has been something I have long remembered! His wit and humor was unforgettable! I loved unexpectedly running into him occasionally at a Tennessee football game and he always remembered me.
Judy I send  my condolences to you, Timmy and all of his family for your loss! He touched many lives in his lifetime!!

I got to see  Billy in action while volunteering for the HHS band. He was a great supporter of the band, always present at our fundraisers.  He would have tickets pre-purchased for pickup and then just go ahead and purchase more when he arrived to the fundraiser.  He was generous with his resources.  Billy,  you handed down these attributes to Candice. You raised a beautiful, thoughtful daughter who I am honored to call my friend.  May you rest forever in eternal peace.

Looking through these photos you can see how loved and how happy he was throughout his life. I grew up next door to Uncle Billy and talked to him at least once a day during that time of life. He always kept us laughing and I’m pretty sure he owned more Hawaiin shirts than any other person I know. I’m sure he’s in heaven making some saints laugh right about now. Love and prayers to all of the family through this bittersweet time.

I have known Billy since 7th grade. He was always a great friend and so funny. Although I lived away a long time when I was home and ran into him always got a big hug and shared memories. Love you buddy
