On Thursday, September 23, 2021, William Harold Harber of Knoxville, loving husband and father of two, grandfather of six, and great grandfather of seven, passed away at Life Care Center of Blount County in Louisville, Tennessee at the age of 95. Harold was born June 20, 1926 in Corbin, Kentucky to William Henry Harber and Vivian Wells Harber. He attended the University of Kentucky and University of Tennessee before joining the Manhattan Project at K-25. He then joined the US Army, where he was deployed to Guadalcanal, Guam, and Japan. Following his military service, Harold worked for Union Carbide and Martin Marietta in Oak Ridge before retiring in 1990.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at the Life Care Center and Amedisys Hospice for their kindness and loving care provided to Harold and his family.
Harold is survived by his Children, Annette Harber Burton (Chuck) and Spence Harber. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lucile Spence Harber. Harold was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and father-in-law and blessed with many friends. He enjoyed fishing, playing the accordion, reading, and ballroom dancing. His quick wit, kindness and practicality will be sorely missed.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee, 37919.
