COCHRAN, William Alfred “Jabo”, 78 of Mascot, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a long courageous fight with cancer. Jabo was born on April 16, 1936 to James B. and Bertha Mae Cochran. He was a member of Green Acres Missionary Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, James B. and Bertha Mae Cochran; brothers, (infant) Gary Allen Cochran and James Edward Cochran; sisters and brother-in-law, Hilda Mae and J.R. Acuff and Barbara Lynn Gentry; brother-in-law, Charles D. Edmonds; nephews, Timmy Cochran and James D. Edmonds. Survived by loving brother and wife, Donald (Ras) and Faye Cochran; sisters and husbands, Laura Ruth Allen and James, Brenda Sue Collins and William; sister, Katherine Eloise Edmonds; aunt, Katherine Collins; a host of family and friends. Special thanks to the nurses at North Knoxville Infusion Center, Dr. Avery and staff, Tennova Hospice caregivers and Dr. Gerald Mancebo and staff. Jabo was unfailingly kind, exhibiting resilience in the face of harrowing odds. Although he lived to an old age, he was a child at heart with a love for life and curiosity reserved for the young. Family will receive friends Wednesday, September 24, 2014 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Green Acres Missionary Baptist Church with a church service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Leonard Goin and Rev. Rick Hayes officiating. Family and friends will meet Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Strawberry Plains Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service.
