William "Bill" Wintford Smith

William “Bill” Wintford Smith, age 91, passed away on December 27, 2022. Bill was raised in Valle Crucis, NC. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving with the 508 Airborne during the Korean Conflict. His career was in mobile home sales. Since retirement, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, bee keeping, and maintaining his rental properties. He enjoyed telling stories of his life and joking with anyone who would listen. Preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mayme Lois Smith; parents, John Nelson and Lillie Mae Smith; sister, Peggy Adams; brothers, Homer Smith, Ray Smith, Edwin Smith, and Johnnie Smith. Survived by daughters, Barbara Smith, Brenda (Jeff) Grindstaff, Colleen (Alex) Stephen; sisters, Mildred Tester, Janeeta Smith, Wanda Hughes and many other loving family members. He was a faithful follower of his Lord Jesus, and he attended Tekoa Baptist Church. Family will receive friends Monday at Weaver’s Chapel from 5:30-7:00 pm with the service to follow. Rev. Bill Dean officiating. Graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens.
