WILLIAM “BILL” J. HEDRICK of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday morning, February 17, 2015. He was born July 1, 1929 to the late Fred and Daisy Hedrick. Preceded in death by his son-in-law, Joe Kent. He was a charter member and deacon of Cumberland Baptist Church. He retired as Sales Manager after 42 years with Southern Cast Stone Co. He was a former president of Associated Builders and Contractors of East Tennessee and was very active in the YMCA having served on the Downtown and Metro board of directors. He was a past president of the Y’s Men Downtown Civic Club. He attended Carson Newman College and the University of Tennessee. He enjoyed sports, playing both tennis and golf, and loved the beautiful Smoky Mountains having spent much time at his home in Gatlinburg. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Geneva; daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Kent; son, David (Debbie) Hedrick; grandchildren, Jessica Hedrick and Tiffany (Chris) Moody; great-grandson, Jordon Tippens and his canine companion, Charlie. The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm Sunday at Cumberland Baptist Church with the service to follow at 4 pm. Family and friends will meet at 12:45 pm Monday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for a 1 pm entombment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tennova Residential Hospice or a charity of your choice.
