By God's Mercy, William H. Berrier Jr., passed away peacefully on Sunday October 16, 2022 at the age of 85. He was a 1956 graduate of South High School where he played football and baseball. Bill was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where over the years he served as a teacher in the children's department, the bus ministry, as an usher and on the building and grounds committee. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William H. Berrier Sr. and Ella Edith Collins Berrier Skeen and step-father, Horace E. Skeen; his sisters, Christina W. Berrier Lane, Judy Skeen Houser and brother Horace W. Skeen. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ruth Ann Howard Berrier; children, William H. Berrier lll (wife Kristine H. Berrier) and Cheryle L. Berrier (friend Mike White); grandchildren, Katie Berrier Witt and husband Josh Witt, Ben Mitchell and Lily Mitchell; great-grandchildren Mason and Landry Witt and Sawyer Mitchell; sisters, Elizabeth Johnson and Brenda Sue Loveday and many cousins nieces and nephews. Bill was a descendent of 4 pioneer families of East Tennessee. Families are Berrier, Collins, Wolfenbarger and Dalton. Bill was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department and served during many historical and political events occurring in our nation's capital as a police officer and instructor. His love for the Lord, his family and the people he met along his journey was expressed in a life of faith and faithfulness. Bill never wavered in his faith, he was constantly amazed by the love and grace of Jesus Christ and freely shared Gods love with everyone he met. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 12-2 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Kirby Ownby and Pastor Bryce Berry officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Family and friends will leave in procession following the service to Woodlawn Cemetery for Interment.
