Wayne W. Stooksbury (84) of Knoxville TN passed away peacefully at home on January 6, 2024. Wayne was a graduate of Halls High School (1957) and served in the US Air Force. He retired after 30 years from Alcoa Aluminum Company and was also a Knox County School Bus contractor, owner, and driver for several years. Wayne was a lifelong member of Black Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Halls, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was also a member of Bright Hope Masonic Lodge #557 since 1980. Wayne was an avid TN Vols football fan and enjoyed all sports. Preceded in death by parents, Lee and Helen Stooksbury; grandparents, Rueben Queener and Martha Stooksbury; father and mother-in-law, Walter and Ophia Elliott; sister, Ann Stooksbury Driggers; and brother-in-law, Robert (Bobby) Hensley. Survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley Stooksbury; son and daughter, Greg and Robin Stooksbury; special daughter-in-law, Melissa (Missy) Stooksbury; granddaughter, Tiffani Abner; grandsons, Brandon (Amanda) and Brad Stooksbury; great-grandchildren, Christopher Lee Abner, Baylee Nicole Stooksbury, Kylie Kaiser Thornton; and Levi Elliott Stooksbury; sisters, Francis Hillard, Florence (Steve) Lunsford, Lena (Marshall) Weaver, and Wanda (Ken) Bullis; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home on West Adair Drive. Graveside service at the same location Wednesday at 11 AM to be officiated by nephew, Ronnie Stooksbury.
