Wayne Milton Schott passed away at his home in Seymour, TN on Saturday, October 28, 2017. Born April 22, 1934, in Appleton, WI, Wayne had a strong passion for music from an early age. His musical interest would guide the rest of his career. Wayne graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1956. Earning a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Wayne left Milwaukee for Chicago, IL to begin an illustrious career for Zenith as an audio engineer. While at Zenith he would design the Allegro stereo system. After 20 years with Zenith, Wayne and his family moved to Fort Wayne, IN where he began work with North American Philips–Magnavox. Wayne became a highly-respected audio engineer who worked for Philips-Magnavox during the development of Compact Disc technology. Wayne achieved many patents over the next 18 years until his retirement in 2001. Wayne’s passion for music extended past his career into his everyday life. He enjoyed the 50’s-60’s torch singers like Ella Fitzgerald and Peggy Lee. Wayne would reminisce about seeing these performers live in Milwaukee and Chicago clubs and halls. He attended the Chicago Symphony regularly while living in Chicago. Years later, Wayne would become a regular season ticket holder for the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. Besides Wayne’s love for music he also enjoyed roses, classic movies and visiting national parks. He would regularly visit the rose gardens in Milwaukee County’s Whitnall Park. Inspired by the gardens, Wayne’s enjoyment would result in him growing 100 varieties of roses. While growing up in Milwaukee, he would travel to the theater to see all of the classic movies during the 40s and 50s. In his retirement, Wayne enjoyed watching all of the movies from his earlier years. He possessed a strong patriotism and love for his nation. Wayne would travel across the country visiting all national monuments and the beautiful locations out west. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Bernice Schott. Wayne is survived by longtime loving partner Shirley Jennings; his sons, Greg Schott (Michelle) Nashville TN, Todd Schott (Dana), and Neal Schott; two grandchildren, Jennifer Schott and Matthew Schott; cousins and other relatives. The family will receive friends at 11 am, Saturday, November 4, at Berry Highland West, 9913 Sherrill Blvd, Knoxville, TN 37932. Services to celebrate Wayne's life will begin at 12 noon with interment following. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to Youth Villages.
