Walter Leon Smith

Walter Leon Smith, born in Knoxville, Tennessee on June 27, 1937, went to his Heavenly home on Thursday, February 1, 2018. He was a member of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church . Walter was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force serving in Vietnam and also retired from The US Postal Service after 20 years of service. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 51 years June Ellen Smith. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of ten years of marriage, Muriel J. Smith; three daughters: Debbie, Laurie, and Patty; two step-daughters, Kim (Arnie) and Angie; grandchildren: Christen, Steven, Justin, Jamie, Jacob, and Mariah; four great-grandchildren: Ashlee, Izaya, Auron, and Wyatt. Family will receive friends Sunday, February 4, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 5:30 pm in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway with the funeral service to follow at 5:30 pm, Rev. Daniel Ogle officiating. Family and friends will meet at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Highway Monday, February 5, 2018 at 9:30 am for the committal service.
