Stoffell, Virginia R. age 74 of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, February 09, 2013. Virginia was a loving and proud mother and grandmother, who loved life, had a joyous sprit, never spoke ill of anyone. She was a member of Concord United Methodist Church. A 1960 Graduate of the University of Tennessee, following graduation she immediately began her career, as an Executive secretary for several Deans of Admission, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and Senior Associate Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, retiring from UT with over 45 years of service. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. An avid UT sports fans that never missed a game, sitting on the 50 yard line. In her younger years she was an avid camper, bicyclist and Boy Scout Leader. Ginny was full of life and had the most loving spirit to all she met. She loved being on the go and fitting in as much as she could with all her travels and adventures. Loved the beach. Her sister was her best friend and they were amazing travel buddies for years. Ginny loved all her family with all her heart. Her zest for life brightened up any room she entered. She was known as an optimist. She was also a member of the Knoxville Quarterback Club.
Preceded in death by her husband William N. Stoffell, parents Ernest and Alma Rochat.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Laura Stoffell, grandchildren Nathaniel and Abigail Stoffell, sister Mary “Lib” Beck, brother and sister-in-law Ernie and Alma Rochat, sisters-in-law Frances Nipper, Reva LePore and Cate Kutz. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephew and friends.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Virginia's name to the charity of your choice.
The family will receive friends Monday, February 11, 2013 from 5-7pm with a Funeral Service to follow at 7pm in the Lynnhurst/Greenwood Chapel.
