O’Brien Pierce, Virginia “Ginny” “Jen”, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 in Seymour, Tennessee. She was born January 8, 1929 in Blackshear, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Smith, Sr. Ginny gave her life to helping others, as she was a devoted mother, “Nana”, sister and friend, she was also an active member of The Blackshear First United Methodist Church and a dedicated volunteer at the Pierce County Nursing Home for many years. Ginny was preceded into eternal life by her husbands, Frank B. O’Brien and William F. Pierce; six brothers and sisters. Ginny is survived by her sister, Joy Smith Casteel, who was by her side until the end. Her daughters, Patti O’Brien Young of Smyrna, Georgia, Judi Parsons and her husband Lucas of Seymour, Tennessee; grandchildren Patrice and Charles Cooper, Brooke Young, B.J. Davis, Brittany and Brad Justus, Jenna Davis; four great grandchildren; stepchildren, Kevin Pierce and Kathy Moore. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 6:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 pm officiated by, Brother Norman Smelcer, at Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. The burial and graveside service will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro, Georgia with Jen’s great nephew, Chad Nimmer, officiating.
