Troy Joe Painter,85, of Knoxville, passed on May 10, 2021, in his home with his wife and daughters by his side. Born in Hawkins County Tennessee, on February 22, 1936, Troy’s life was centered around his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Maggie Painter, brothers: John, Charlie, George, and Vernon Painter, and his sister Marie Richard.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Nell Painter; his daughter: Susan Woodrow (Chris) of Knoxville and his adopted daughter Kristen Painter of Knoxville; stepchildren: Rhonda Negrete of California and Doug Ramsey of Knoxville; numerous grandchildren; sister, Ruby Davis of Knoxville, and a host of nieces and nephews who will dearly miss him.
Troy was a humble man of the Baptist faith. At an early age he began his career working at Wolfe Dairies as a milkman. He later retired from Flav-O-Rich Dairy with 45 years of service. Few can say that they found their true calling in life, but from a simple conversation with Troy, one could tell this was what he was meant to do. As he always said, “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.”
In his free time he loved working in his yard; mowing, gardening, or even just sitting outside. More than anything, Troy loved spending time with his family and friends. It is difficult to overstate Troy's impact on those in his life. Everyone who knew him was affected by his kindness, humor, and generosity.
Specials thanks to his care group including UT Hospice and his primary care doctor, Aleona Oculam and her amazing staff.
