Cook, Troy F., age 94, of Knoxville, died peacefully in his sleep on July 31, 2011, at Ben Atchley Home for Veterans in Knoxville. Troy was born on May 6, 1917, in Lamar County, Alabama, and always considered Alabama to be home no matter where he lived. He lived for God and blessed many people with his singing and music ministry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Doggett Cook, his daughter and son, Dorcas E. Cook and Daniel T. Cook, respectively, and 10 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Cook Darnell, grandson Philip Darnell and wife Shelby, two great grandsons, Miles and Ethan, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2011, with Rev. Howard Russell and Rev. Gene Cook officiating. A musical tribute will be given by family and friends. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. before the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to JESUS Film Harvest Partners in Olathe, Kansas, a world-wide mission organization.
