Troy Cook passed through Columbia, S.C. while in training at nearby Ft. Jackson, during the dark days of     WW-II. During those brief months at the fort, Troy attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Columbia; where my father was pastor ---  Troy would sing the old hymns, as only he could, with his great tenor voice.  And, when he would sing the old favorites, ("Amazing Grace") and the other old church classics,the Holy Spirit could be felt by everyone in attendance. -----  Troy Cook was an enormous inspiration for all who heard him sing! And, even though his time in Columbia was quite brief, his singing and his presence cast an enormous shadow over the many church members who loved him and he has never been forgotten. We wish him godspeed as he embarks on his celestial journey!

Troy Cook left an indelible footprint for over 70 years in Columbia, SC. While stationed at Fort Jackson in Columbia,Troy was a faithfull attnendee at the Church my father pastored, First Church of the Nazarene. He had many a Sunday meal at our house and at other members homes while in Columbia. "Oh Haapy Day" still lingers in my ears. God Bless his memory.

I have enjoyed the music of the Cook family for many years, and several times, had the great pleasure of playing the organ while Sister Margaret played the piano.  They always had such a great, Godly attitude and spirit.
Their contributions to the Christian music world will always be fondly remembered, and their testimony will live forever in the hearts of so many.
Sister Margaret was such an accomplished musician, and a joy to hear.  Brother Troy was such a giant of a man, though limited in his physical body.  He always boldly spoke for the truth, and had a living testimony for the Lord.
He will be missed here, but will now be forever with the Lord.

WOW!  Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing away of your beloved father, who was a blessing to so many people over so many years.  Absolutely no one could have guessed that you would be in the situation where you are today, but you have been so strong for your entire family and there are many of us looking on from afar who appreciate it.  Surely you will have a great reward in heaven!
 
I well remember the first time I saw your father (or at least my first recollection as it is now stored in my brain), in July of 1958.  He drove out to the BMI property where construction had just begun on the first building, and I remember him getting some recordings of his music out of the trunk of his car and then little ol' 10-year-old me being asked to take the picture as he posed with my father and Richard Boynton.  Your father and my own were in their early 40s then and Brother Boynton was still in his 30s.  (And here you and I are gettin' old ourselves now!)
 
But . . . it will all collapse into joyful timelessness one day (where age differences and even century differences will all lose their meaning) and we will all be together again.  That's the great hope of the Gospel.  Hey, hang in there, my sister!  God still has work for us to do.  Our time is coming, so let's finish STRONG.
