Jim, I only today became aware of the loss of you beloved Teresa. Although I never met the two of you in person, I felt the love you had for each other over the phone lines. She told me often she had a newfound love and respect for you as you provided her care. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

This is so hard to unscramble in my mind, as I feel like Teresa has been a part of my life forever.  I hardly remember moments in my life that did not involve her.  We became friends when we were 12 and singing in a Youth Choir.  We got to travel to different places one summer and we were roomies.  That is how we got to know each other better.  I can’t remember when Teresa’s hugs were not a big part of her.  I think she became much more of a hugger though after she got married and had Tony and Brianne.  She had so much love inside to give and that is one of the things I admire about her.  She gave that love freely with no strings attached.  It didn’t matter who you were or where you came from.  She felt you deserved her love. 
One of the things between us is that she always knew when I needed her most.  Whether it was to talk or she felt she had to show up in person, she always was there for me.  She would say that she just knew something was wrong and she needed to check on me.  After a while, we didn’t always have to talk for the other one to know how we felt.  Even long distance we missed the in person hugs, but we always just knew when the other one was having a hard day or something.  During her battle with the “Monster”, she called me a few times and we talked for a while on the phone.  She told me she wanted to talk to me because I would understand what she was going through.  Funny thing is I did understand.  It was hard for her to make the decisions she made for herself.  No matter what happened she always wanted to make sure everyone was going to be ok and would get through the rough times.  
When we last talked on Thursday night, I promised her I would let her family know how much joy they had given her.  From the first time she met Jim and then married him all the way through to the last, she never had any regrets.  She got to do things we used to only dream about when we were just kids together.   And she got to do them with Jim.  Jim was the love of her life and I know how much she hates to leave him.  But she told me that she knew he would be ok.  He is a strong man with a good heart and they would see each other again soon.  She looks at it as going ahead to make their home where they are going to be together.
When she had her first child Tony, she was so scared.  We both were scared as new Moms.  I had my daughter only 4 months after she had Tony and when they were little they played together a lot.  She loved her son so much.  She used to just look at him with that special look she always had when words were just not enough.  As he grew so did her love for him.  I was always amazed how much love she seemed to have.  It was like it just kept growing over the years.  She loved her first born very much and hopes that he will remember that.  She wants him to know how special she thinks he is and that he should never just “settle” for less than the best.  After all he is her son and he deserves the best.
Then she had Brianne.  She was her baby girl and to the last that is what I remember her saying when she referred to her.  By the time she had Brianne, we had been moms for a while so we relaxed a little and got to just love them even more.  To Teresa, she had everything around her she would ever need.  She loved Brianne and was so proud of her.  She wants Brianne to remember that and to also give love freely to others like Teresa did.  That was one gift Teresa hopes she gave both her children.  When Brianne married Mitch, Teresa just added him to the list of family that she loved.  I got to meet him and I can see why Teresa loved him so much.  After all he loved her daughter and will be there for her any time she needs him.   That is the way it always should be.
Then we come to one of the special ones in the group, Rose who is Tony’s daughter.  She was the sunshine is Teresa’s day and it always made her day brighter to get her “hug” from her new “baby girl”.  I cannot begin to describe how much Rose was loved by Teresa.  It always was like she was trying to pack a lifetime of love in every moment she had with her.  I just want to let Rose know that “Granny T” is watching her grow and Rose will see Granny T again one day to get more hugs.
I just can’t describe my love for my friend of almost 42 years.  I know that she is no longer on this earth, but to me she is still with me. She has just changed addresses to a higher existence.  She always has and always will be the wind beneath my wings.  She is in my heart and she will be waiting for me when it is my time.

It has been many years since I last saw you. (I used to babysit Tony & Brianne when you lived on Davenport Rd...I was in high school and it was in the 80s.) I had spoken with Teresa a few times over the years and each time we would talk, she would thank me for caring for her children and being  so good to them. 
I am so sorry to hear of her passing. She was a beautiful person whose smile lit up a room. I will be praying for each of you.
