It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear Tannar Christian Rice on May 3, 2024 at the age of 33. Born at 7:42 pm on May 19, 1990 at UT Hospital, Tannar filled our lives with love from the moment he came into the world. He is survived by his mother, Andrea Rice, daughter, Guinevere Marie Rice, siblings, Kimberly Rice and Matthew Rice & sister-in-law Jessica Biggard, as well as his nieces Lorelei Hazlett & Scarlett Rice, grandparents James & Suzanne Titcombe, and aunts and uncles, Kenneth Titcombe, Justin & Angela Titcombe, and Candice & John Brand.
It was clear from an early age that Tannar would pursue all his interests until he was an expert. He started early, at the age of 5, when he began playing soccer and eventually proved skillful enough to be on the Junior Olympics soccer team. Soccer was a lifelong love of his, so much so that he’d go on to coach his niece and ref her games when she played the sport.
Cooking was also an interest of his, so much so that he attended a cooking camp at age 10 and even asked for a bread maker for one Christmas. His love for cooking never faded and he continued to cook and create new dishes at every opportunity.
Tannar also had a deep love for music, whether it be his very impressive stockpile of CDs, collection of band t-shirts, or most impressively, his ability to teach himself how to play both the piano and drums. He passed down his passion for music to his daughter, who has also taught herself several instruments and has developed a great appreciation for music.
Above all else, Tannar was successful in brightening the lives of his loved ones. He was a dutiful son to his mother and the epitome of brotherly love to his siblings. He was highly respectful of his aunts and uncles, addressing his uncles as sir even when he was as young as 8. Tannar also doted on his nieces. Most evident was how much he adored his daughter, demonstrating a love only the best fathers give and was willing to give her the world if she asked.
Tannar was one to never back down and always fought the good fight. His loved ones will forever be proud of him and the light he brought our lives will never fade as we continue to love and remember him in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life for Tannar will be held Friday, May 17, 2024 at 7pm at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home.
