On the night of February 6, 2024, Steven Earl Moore, age 74, left this life and entered into the arms of his Heavenly Father, whom he had served faithfully until his last breath. Perhaps best known by “Pop” or “Poppers” to his children and grandchildren or “Darling” by his devoted wife, Steve Moore was a talented musician, a practical joker, and a lifelong fan of the University of Tennessee. He was an accomplished contractor by trade but was best known for his ability to bring laughter to a room by quoting the movies he had watched hundreds of times, spontaneously singing lyrics to songs he had committed to memory years ago, and salting his food when his wife wasn’t looking.
Always a devoted husband and loving father, Steve leaves behind his adoring wife of 39 years, Theda Tapp Moore, whom he married on September 22, 1984, his son and daughter, Scott (Robin) Moore and Dana Moore, along with his three bonus children, Tim (Samantha) Lutts, Melissa (Russell) Hale, and Adam (Sarah) Lutts. Surviving in addition to his wife and children are: his sister-in-law, Nancy Moore, brother-in-law, Jude Barlage, brother-in-law Dean (Cindy) Leathers, his grandchildren: Makenna (Austin) Moore, Isaac (Allison Heady) Moore, Gibson Lutts, Tyler Reed, Cody (Kaitlin Ross) Parker, Olivia (Caleb) Whitaker, Abbey (Chase) Bennett, Isabel Lutts, his great grandchild, Mason Parker, and a whole host of nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Pastor Earl and Bobbi Moore, sisters, Kimberly Leathers and Diana Barlage, and brother, Mark Moore.
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Psalm 91:1-2 The family has rested in these comforting words over the last few days knowing the Blessed Assurance of eternal life and the confidence that Pop is resting peacefully in the shadow of the Almighty.
Befitting Steve’s love of sports, memorial services are scheduled to be conducted on Sunday, February 11, 2024, Super Bowl Sunday (Go Chiefs!) at 3:00 p.m. at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Dr., Knoxville, Tennessee. Pastor Steve Fatow will officiate with his son, Scott Moore, giving the eulogy. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with the funeral and reception immediately following. Burial will be at the Haun Cemetery in Luttrell, Tennessee on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. For those attending the graveside service, you are encouraged to dress comfortably in UT orange gear.

Honorary pallbearers are: Gibson Lutts, Randy Harris, Danny Wilson, Friends and Neighbors of Hunters Run, the Crossing Church, Frank and Angie Albritton, Joey and Tammy Naymon, and Daniel Roberts.
