Shirley Jean McCroskey

Shirley Jean McCroskey, age 88 of Knoxville, passed away Friday, December 20, 2024. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. At the age of 12, she was the Knoxville Badminton Champion. In Philadelphia, Shirley was a talented seamstress, later worked as a hat check girl at S&W Cafeteria on Gay Street before starting her family. She worked with her husband, Bud running a tavern and raising their 3 boys. Shirley went on to work for Kelly Girl and Waring Blender Company as a regional representative before obtaining her license as a real estate agent.

Preceded in death by husband of 56 years, Shadrick "Bud" McCroskey; sister, Barbara Dtilo and brother, Larry Parton.

Survived by sons and daughter-in-laws: Charles C. and Kelly, James Dennis, Shadrick and Terry; grandchildren: Jessica, Cody, Jake, Charly; great-grandchildren: Liam, Ella Blue, Aliyah, Mason; brothers, Tony Catlett, J.J. Parton and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the parlors of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, TN. Family and friends will meet Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike, Knoxville for a 1:00 pm Graveside Service.
