Sheila Smith-Mellon, 70, of Sanford, NC, passed away October 17, 2021.Sheila was born in Knoxville, TN, daughter of the late Roy Earl Smith and Julia Ann Underwood Smith. She was preceded in death by her daughter Selena Renee Mellon. Sheila enjoyed reading mysteries, watching movies, singing hymns, and spending time with her family. Her heart was full of love for God and others.
Mrs. Mellon is survived by daughters, Tina Mellon and her fiancé David Swink of Fuquay Varina, NC and Julie Mellon Kahre and husband Raymond of Charleston, SC; son Kevin Mellon and wife Lisa Mellon of TN; two grandchildren, Alex Kahre and Leah Kahre; two sisters, Debbie Howerton and husband Steve, and Mary Alice Halfacre and husband Scott, all of TN.
The family will honor Sheila with a Receiving of Friends on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home, 7426 Asheville Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37924, with a Funeral Service to follow at 7:00pm. Family and friends will gather once more at McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 10:30am to go in procession to Eastview Memorial Gardens, 1320 Andrew Johnson Hwy, Strawberry Plains, TN 37871, for a 11:00am Committal Service, Pastor Tim Tatum will officiate the services. Memorial donations may be made to Carter Community Church, 210 N. Carter School Rd, Strawberry Plains, TN 37871.
