She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Kyle Ray Day, as well as her mother and father, Muriel and Fred Delaney. Sheila leaves behind her two children, Joseph Kyle Day and Jessica Hallie Marie Runtz, as well as son-in-law Derick Paul Runtz. She was a loving mother who cared deeply for her children, and was always there with a joke or a story in times of difficulty. Sheila also is survived by her siblings, Steve Delaney and Sherry Arms along with their spouses Teresa Delaney and Terry Arms. She was a beloved aunt, niece, and friend to many, including dear family friends Larry and Marsha Gourley.
One of Sheila's greatest passions in life was her love of animals. Whether it was her own pets, strays, or wild animals, she had a compassionate heart and would go out of her way to care for them. Her best friend came in the form of a weird eyed, big headed, little dog named Barkley. She adopted him from Young Williams Animal Shelter in 2010, and they were inseparable ever since. Over the years, they loved to take walks together and explore the surrounding wilderness of her 'backyard.' The woods that surrounded her home brought Sheila much joy and comfort. She loved being able to see the wildlife from her porch and enjoy nature's beauty. In her spare time, she often kept busy with creating beautiful art in all kinds of forms, a talent she has had since childhood. Her last great passion was music. Lauded for her beautiful voice since her teens, Sheila found much comfort and expression in music from many different genres.
We will be celebrating Sheila's life with visitation at Berry Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 25th from 5:00-7:00PM with memorial services following at 7:00PM. She will be laid to rest at Asbury Cemetery to be with her parents on Thursday, May 26th at 11:00AM.
