He loved the Lord but listened to the devil sometimes so he most likely pushed his guardian angel to the limit. If there is alcohol in Heaven, his Angel definitely needed it. Sammy was a Jack of all trades, master of none mostly because he had more jobs than most people have had shoes. His last profession was tree trimming at Townsend Tree Service and Rogers Bobcat and Tree Service. He loved it because he could do dangerous things that no one else wanted to do. Sammy was a mess his whole life. He could make you laugh, make you cry, and make you want to pinch his head off all in a ten minute conversation. He would give you the shirt off his back and complain about doing it, but would do it again if you needed it. He had a big heart, a short temper and a stubborn streak a mile long but everybody loved him, smart mouth and all.
He is preceded in death by his grand parents, several friends and a few enemies that he chuckled about.
Sammy is survived by his sister, Tiffany Rogers, whom he lovingly referred to as “The Warden”, her husband, Kenny Rogers aka the “Co-Warden“ who was also his boss, landlord and best buddy even though they both denied it; Mom and Bonus Dad, Pat and Joe Kerschieter; Dad, Robert L.McDaniel Jr. and his significant other, Carolyn Ramsey; Children Kourtney (Tyler) Vallone, Corbin and Chase; Uncle Billy (Susan) Hughes; his pretend wife, Kailyn, who will blow her car up from lack of oil because he isn’t here to check it; Brother and Sister-in-law, Pat and Tammy Milligan who helped The Warden keep him as straight as he was gonna get; A ton of great friends, and some who are not so great but he claims them anyway.
If you don’t want to send flowers you will need to do a shot of fireball in his honor, say something inappropriate at an inappropriate time, or do something crazy that you think he would have done.
The family will receive friends at Berry Highland South on Wednesday September 27th from 5:00pm-7:00pm with a service to follow at 7:00pm. The burial will take place privately at the Rogers Family Cemetery. He always returned to there, so he may as well stay there forever.
