Said Khalil Mubarak, age 93, of Knoxville, Tennessee went to be with the Lord, peacefully and surrounded by his family in his home on Saturday, December 31, 2022. Said, born in Ramallah, Palestine on March 11, 1929, immigrated to America in 1969, where he worked as a successful businessman and restaurateur. Said was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church. He loved his family deeply and looked forward to the warm months where he worked in his garden. Said had a big personality and was loved and respected by those who knew him. He was known for his big smile and his love for reciting old arabic poems, and his knowledge of history and geography.
Said is preceded in death by his parents, Khalil and Mariam Mubarak; brothers, Mubarak “Mike” Mubarak and Ibrahim Mubarak; sisters, Mudallaleh Natour, Nehmeieh Rayyan, Badiah Mubarak, Suad Mashni and Nabeha Natour.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years; Mariam Said Mubarak; children, Murad (Kim) Mubarak, Muna (Salvatore) Vecchiuzzo, Marwan (Jolla) Mubarak, and Suzanne (Charlie) Saah; sisters, Jamilla Rayyan and Huda Mashni; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Said was loved by all and he will be sorely missed.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 5-7pm at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home with a 7pm Trisagion service. A funeral service will take place at 11:30 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church with an interment to follow on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 1pm at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery.
