Rufus Walker (Papaw) age 82 of New Market, went to be with the Lord on April 17, 2016. “Now gone from our sight, but forever in our hearts.” He was a former employee of Tom’s Foods. He was preceded in death by wife, Blanche Walker; sons, Lester and Gary Walker; parents, John and Maude Walker; four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by daughters, Anglia (special son-in-law Earnest) Collins of New Market, Tammy (Robert) Dripps of Oliver Springs; sons, Melvin (Michele)Walker of South Bend, Indiana, Roger Walker of Nashville, former daughter-in-law, Amy Riley. Grandchildren, Misty (Jim) Nichols, Tasha (Justin) Hoque, Edward, Tisha, and Chris Fultz, April (Mark) Rouse, Travis and Teresa Walker, Dustin and Michael Walker, Joey Delph, Gary (Tannisha)Ramsey; great-grandchildren, Donovynn, Samuel, Jackson, Walker, Sam, David, Roy, Tamara, Maranda, Philip, Riley, Hannah, and Teagan; sisters, Bertha Thomas, Gladys Hunley, Twin Sister, Lizzy Alexander, Jeanie Bean, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Smoky Mountain Hospice for their superb professional support through our challenging ordeal. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Greg Shelton officiating.
