Ron Collins, age 73, of Knoxville, Tennessee went to be with the Lord peacefully Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Parkwest Hospital with his wife by his side. Ron was born March 29, 1949 in Knoxville, TN to Albert Lee Collins and Wanda Harris Collins Duncan.
Ron was a graduate of Holston High School, Class of 1967, where he was co-captain of the basketball team. He was an accomplished athlete and earned many local and state awards. Ron attended Tusculum College on a basketball and baseball scholarship.
Ron also served with honor in the United States Navy as an Aviation Electrician and was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Attack Squadron VA-86 attached to the USS America Aircraft Carrier. Seeing the American flag flying was always special to him because Ron was so patriotic.
For the majority of his career, Ron worked as a sales manager in the the scales industry. He eventually retired from Industrial Scales and Systems based out of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Ron's greatest love was his time spent with his wife, Margie. He called her his "Treasure" that God had sent him. Ron was a generous and loving husband. They enjoyed traveling extensively, their home, sports of any kind, socializing with friends, nature, music, sunsets, full moons, and their deep spiritual connection with the Lord. Ron was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He was a strong advocate for those in need and supported many charities. Ron would brighten up any room and always shined his bright light on anyone he met.
Preceded in death by parents; brother, Donald A. Collins; sister, Rebecca Collins Aduddell (David). Survivors include wife of 23 years, Margie Merrell Collins; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Collins Polson (Matt); brother-in-law, David Aduddell; niece, Nicole Aduddell Booth (Scott); many loving cousins and friends. Special thanks to Cardiology Associates of East Tennessee, Parkwest Medical ICU nurses, and Montvue 4th Floor nurses for their loving care, kindness, and compassion.
A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, November 13th at 3pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Mouser officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Knox County Community Meals on Wheels, KARM Serenity Shelter, Grace Charis Counseling, or Grace Baptist Church, 7171 Oak Ridge Highway, Knoxville, TN 37931.
