He was born in Memphis, Tennessee and grew up in Strawberry Plains. Robert retired from law enforcement and later worked as a welder and built horse trailers for 17 years.
Preceded in death by mother, Kathleen Stallings Hicks; father, Ira Lee Hicks and 2 step-daughters: Suzzanne K. and Mary Jean Hicks DeBusk.
Survivors include wife of 51 years, Mary L. Hicks; stepson, Willie Hicks; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his wife, friends, family and neighbors.
The family will receive friends Sunday, August 20, 2023 between the hours of 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the chapel of McCarty Evergreen Funeral Home, 7426 Asheville Hwy, Knoxville with a Memorial Service to follow at 7:00 PM.
