Robert Daniel Dewalt, age 79, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022. Bob was born November 30, 1942, in Long Beach, CA. He graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He and his wife Kaki met in 1963 at a friend’s wedding and were married two years later on July 27, 1965. A year after their marriage, Bob began his 32-year career with Exxon. Over the years, Bob and Kaki made their homes in California, Texas, New Jersey, and Tennessee. Their three kids were all born in different states: Laurel in CA, Jon in TX, and Matt in TN.
A turning point came in Bob’s life in 1975 when he chose to become a follower of Christ. After that decision Bob dedicated his life to walking with God. He never missed a day spending time in God’s Word.
Bob was an accomplished designer and builder, often making gifts for loved ones and working on projects around the house. After his retirement from Exxon, he began a construction business, which he enjoyed immensely. He continued remodeling homes until moving to Knoxville, TN in 2018 to be near Jon and his family.
Bob was always available to help anyone in need. He was intensely proud and supportive of his children and grandchildren, bragging about them to anyone who would listen. Bob had a big, big heart - he was generous, loving, trustworthy and kind. He always made you feel accepted and welcomed. He was known for his warm smile, twinkling eyes, and big hugs.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Kaki Dewalt; children, Laurel (Matthew) Crawley, Jon (Candace) Dewalt, Matt (Kirsten) Dewalt; grandchildren, Cooper, Emma, Patton, and Charlie; siblings, Sandy Boden, Robbin Dewalt, Rick Dewalt; several nieces and nephews.
