Richard Yates Quinn “Quinney”, age 46, passed away July 30, 2019 after a courageous fight with cancer. Richard was a 1992 graduate of Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, MA, where he set the school’s rebound record in basketball. He received his Bachelor’s degree in business in 1996 from Carson Newman and a Master’s degree in Biblical Counseling from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2007. Richard was an avid UT sports fan, Star Wars enthusiast, and lover of all things 1980’s. Richard met the love of his life, Nicole, in 2005, proposing on their fifth date. They were married in 2007 and welcomed their son, Jackson, in 2014. Richard loved being a father and was an amazing daddy to his “Buddy Buddy” Jackson. Richard had a close relationship with the Lord, and remained strong in his faith throughout his cancer battle. His positive attitude and outlook was an inspiration to everyone, and his family and friends couldn’t be more proud of him. Richard’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Parkwest hospital and Doctors Robert Burton, Daniel Ibach, and Charles Benson for their excellent care. Richard is preceded in death by his grandparents; Dick and Lillian Quinn and C.P. and Jean Wilson. Survived by his loving wife, Nicole; his son, Jackson; mother and stepfather, Cassie Wilson Hendrix and Don Hendrix; father and stepmother, Richard and Delana Quinn; aunts and uncles Barbara and JT Ownby, and Sloan and Geno Maes; step brother, Thomas Majors; step sister, Jerry Majors Patterson; mother in law, Fran Ogilvie; sister in law Haley Hardesty and husband Scott; nephew, Bryce and niece, Avery. Richard is also survived by many close friends who will never forget his infectious laughter. A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel at Manley Baptist Church (3603 W Andrew Johnson Hwy, Morristown, TN 37814) on August 10, 2019 at 2:00pm. The family encourages everyone to wear UT orange in tribute to Richard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given for his son Jackson’s education fund.
