Richard Cooper

Richard passed away peacefully on December 19th at the age of 94. Richard lived a full life and was loved and admired by many.

Richard was born on May 17th, 1930 in Kingsport, Tennessee to Chester and Cleo Cooper. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Dan, John and Ben and nephew, Danny. Richard is survived by his daughter, Cyndi Cooper Misner, son in law, Dave, and granddaughters, Nicola and Lily. He is also survived by nieces, Susan Cooper and Pam Fekete, and nephew Michael Cooper.

Richard enjoyed studying and living life at LaFollette High School, then graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1953, with a business degree. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. Richard spent his career in finance and insurance, and most recently worked part time for the Knoxville News Sentinel. Richard was a proud member of Zion Cornerstone Church.

Richard’s family would like to thank close friends, Parkwest Medical Center, Ben Atchley Tennessee State Retirement Home, and Smokey Mountain Hospice.

The family will receive friends Monday, December 23rd at 5:00 p.m., with the service to follow at Weaver Funeral Home, 5815 Western Avenue, Knoxville, TN. 37921. In lieu of flowers, please honor Richard and donate to:
