Our beloved, Paul Steven McCarter, age 38, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 in Georgetown, DE, formally from Knoxville, TN. He was of the Baptist faith. Paul was passionate about all outdoor activities but especially loved fishing and camping. He enjoyed the practice of martial arts and spending time at the lake or beach. Paul had a love for nature and expressed this in his works as a landscaper and carpenter. He was a very kind, giving and gentle soul who loved listening to music and helping others anytime he could. With his passing, he became an organ donor and was able to help four other people get a new lease on life.
Paul was preceded in death by grandfather, Ivan Haze "Beno" McCarter; uncles, Robin McCarter and Paul Stephan Shelton (who is Paul's namesake); special great aunt, Sandy Fay Shelton; dear friend, David Wilson. He is survived by grandmothers, Gwen "Gigi" McCarter and Mary Gentry "Nana" Shelton; grandfather, D.R. "Papaw" Shelton, Jr. and wife, Joyce "Mamaw" Shelton; father, Craig McCarter and significant other, Konnie Taylor; mother, Terry Shelton; sister, Crystal Rheena Reed and Eric Lane; daughter, Adrianna; children by love, Teresa and Dyllan with their mother, Dawn Fritts; very special aunt, uncle and cousins, Tracy, Michael, April and A.J. Lyles; uncles, D.R. "Storm" Shelton, III and James Lynn Shelton; special great aunts, Faye Gentry and Sue Snyder and husband, Harvey Snyder; special family friends, David Rowe, Tony Bocchino, David Lane and Tina Belcamino as well as several other family members.
The family would like to thank the staff of Unit 2A at Christiana Care Hospital (P.O. Box 1668 Wilmington, DE, 19899) and Gift of Life Donor Program (401 N 3rd St, Philadelphia, PA 19123) for their compassion and professionalism while working with us and caring for Paul. Family will receive friends Saturday, October 15th from 12pm-2pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with Celebration of Life service at 2pm. Pastor Lance Pratt officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions (monetary or in kind) to any of the above named organizations.
