Patricia Gail Pendleton, age 64, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She went to rest that afternoon at her home in Blaine, hand in hand with her loving husband as he and family sat by her side. She was born in Knoxville, TN on January 24, 1950 to the late Samuel and Cora Gardner. Her sister Patsy Daniels also precedes her in death. Her legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of: her devoted husband, William P. Pendleton, Sr.; their children, Nora (David) Hancock, Cora (Freddy) Reynolds, Amy (John) Sidebottom, William (Tina) Pendleton, Jr.; grandchildren, Arica (Michael) Bowens, Jon Pendleton, Chelsie Pendleton, Johnny & Justin Sidebottom, Kaity Pendleton, Alex Manor, Melody Reynolds; and their great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Madison, and Michael Damion Bowens. She also leaves behind many other loved ones and friends who will miss her greatly. Patricia was a kind and beautiful person with a generous heart. I cannot begin to count the times she put herself out to help others, even a complete stranger, but that’s just how she was. She enriched the lives of all who had the privilege to know her. Though some would take advantage of her giving heart, she never let it change the faith and optimism she had in people. I know many, her children and the others lucky enough to know her as Mom or Mamaw, that are very grateful for that fact. Who knows how our lives would have turned out if she hadn’t kept that faith in us. Momma, Life from this point on won’t be an easy journey for us, for a part of us left with you on your journey, but you left a piece of you within each of us; to guide us through our lives and remind us to do better and be better. We’re not sure we could ever be as good as you, but if we can manage just half then we have lived a good fulfilling life. “She stood in the storm, and when the wind did not blow her away, she adjusted her sails.” We would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Larry Kilgore and staff at UT Cancer Institute, the staff on the Oncology floor at UT Hospital, and the UT Hospice Service. Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday, December 17th at Berry Highland West from 1-3p.m. with entombment to follow. Please sign our online guestbook at www.highlandmemorialwest.com.
