Pamela Jane Smith Meadows, age 68, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away, or as she would say, "passed over the rainbow bridge," on April 17, 2017. Pam was a graduate of West High School and the University of Tennessee, where she received a Master's in Information Science. A high school English teacher for many years, she enjoyed the second half of her career as a librarian at South Doyle High School. Pam loved life and living it, and her defining characteristic was her unconditional love for family and friends. She spent her carefree hours with her grandchildren, her pets, her books, her gardens, and in contemplation of the universe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wray and Mabel Smith. She is survived by her children, Leanne McGinnis Kersey and her husband, Brant, and James McGinnis and his wife, Beth; cosmic partner, Richard Lang; grandchildren, Will, Emily and Parker Kersey, and Liam and Adele McGinnis; brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrell and Cindy Smith, and Don and Mary Ann Smith; and many other extended family members. She passed away suddenly from complications of pancreatic cancer, only six days after being diagnosed. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Pam's honor to Friends of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 12:00-2:00pm at Berry Funeral Home (3704 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920), with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2:00pm. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com.
